BILLINGS - The director of an oil documentary said Friday he was happy with the turnout for his first showing in Billings.

Director Mark Mathis was behind "spOILed," a documentary on America's reliance on oil. He said the first showing at west end's Wynnsong 10 theater drew more than 100 people. Moviegoers said they might not agree with the documentary, but they will enter with an open mind.

"People know the importance of oil to their lives, in a town like Billings. They don't, across most of the country, and people want to come out. They were thrilled with it, and we sold a lot of DVDs. It was great," said Mathis.

"I'm hoping it will be objective, in terms of the oil industry, but I also know who sponsored it and who brought it here. But the title seems intriguing, as if the director tried to be as objective as possible," said Olivia Umphrey, who went to see the second showing on Friday.

The movie will be shown until Sunday in Billings.
