Vonne Monai's Beauty, Health & Fitness Guide: Victoria M. Quick ...

First Vikki does not know me. Our entire relationship, if you can call it on was of her sponging off of my generosity and me being there for her in every way and she never returned the favor.
It occurred to me that she may have actually thought she could understand me or what i would like in a man based on absolutely no knowledge of whatsoever.
A relationship is not made out of her always being on the receiving end of the giving, whether it is financial resources, a shoulder to cry on or much needed advice.
I suppose apes like her run around pretending they are self mad, but I know she is nothing without her mother.
She is still trying to get revenge on everyone for the men she wanted being attracted to Dot, Val or me.
She ought to know I have higher standards than that because that is why everyone always told me to lower my standards.
They forget that it was my hight standards that achieved the professions that earned the money for them to steal and spend.?
Victoria M. Quick-Pope is a self hating black female with way too much testosterone and could never afford anything unless she is doing something illegal, like human trafficking.
She took a vacation to Mexico, although she took french in school.
I suppose Canada is not a open to the sort of criminal activity she would require for a so called vacation destination.

More remains found in Calif. with killer's help

Authorities searching with the help of a convicted serial killer found more human remains Saturday ? the first bones discovered at an abandoned well on a cattle ranch where a death row inmate claimed 10 or more victims may be buried, authorities said.

The discovery marked the third straight day that remains were found with a map prepared by Wesley Shermantine. He and his childhood friend, Loren Herzog, were called the "Speed Freak Killers" for a methamphetamine-fueled killing spree that had as many as 15 victims.

Two sets of remains had been found Thursday and Friday near property once owned by Shermantine's family about 60 miles (100 kilometers) south of Sacramento.

The latest remains were found after crews dug slowly through 30 feet (nine meters) of soot and debris at the well near Linden, California, said San Joaquin County sheriff's spokesman Deputy Les Garcia.

It was not clear whether they belonged to one or more people, and Garcia said they had not yet been identified.

The search was called off after dark Saturday, but was set to resume Sunday.

Dental records identified remains found Thursday in Calaveras County as those of Cyndi Vanderheiden, 25, Garcia said. Authorities were awaiting the results of a DNA analysis to confirm the identification, Garcia said.

Cyndi Vanderheiden's father, John Vanderheiden, said he was almost sure the remains are those of his daughter, who disappeared in 1998.

"There will be closure after that," he said.

The remains found Friday have not been identified, but Chevelle "Chevy" Wheeler's parents believe they are those of their 16-year-old daughter. Wheeler's parents said they were notified that the remains were found in a spot where Shermantine said their daughter was buried after she disappeared in 1985.

"They said they found her wrapped in a blanket," Paula Wheeler, the girl's mother, told The Associated Press by phone from the family's home in Crossville, Tennessee. "This is a happy day. We can finally have some closure."

Shermantine recently agreed to disclose the locations of bodies in return for a bounty hunter's offer of $33,000.

He is giving hand-drawn maps to authorities, who are focusing on the spot where Saturday's remains were found, though layers of backfill were making excavation difficult.

Shermantine was convicted of four murders and sentenced to death. Herzog was convicted of three murders and sentenced to 77 years to life in prison, though that was later reduced to 14 years. An appeals court tossed his first-degree murder convictions after ruling his confession was illegally obtained.

Herzog was paroled in 2010 to a trailer outside the High Desert State Prison in Susanville. He committed suicide outside that trailer last month after Sacramento bounty hunter Leonard Padilla told him Shermantine was disclosing the location of the well along with two other locations.

Padilla has promised to pay Shermantine as much as $33,000 to disclose the locations of the bodies. He said he hopes to collect on rewards being offered by the state of California for information about several missing persons suspected of being victims of Herzog and Shermantine.

Shermantine has said he wants the money to pay off an $18,000 restitution order that prevents him from buying the limited luxuries like candy bars that inmates with money in their accounts can afford. He also said he want to buy headstones for his deceased parents.

Not the DIY type? Tips to find a tax preparer (AP)

NEW YORK ? If your financial life is simple and you have basic computer skills, using do-it-yourself software is an "EZ" way to file your tax return.

But if you're nervous about preparing your own taxes, don't have time, had a major life or job change last year or simply think the tax laws are too complex, you're not alone.

About 60 percent of all returns are filed by professional preparers, according to the Internal Revenue Service. Officials at H&R Block, which prepared one out of every six tax returns last year, told investors recently that the growth in the software market has come mainly from do-it-yourselfers who switched from paper to digital, not from taxpayers who switched from paid preparers.

But how do you find a tax preparer you can trust? Here are a few tips:

1. Ask around

Tax professionals say the best way to find someone is through an old-fashioned, word-of-mouth recommendation. Ask friends and family members who they use, and why they would recommend their preparer.

If you're expecting to claim a lot of business-related expenses, ask colleagues from work or professional organizations if they know a preparer who focuses on your industry. If you have a small business make sure, at a minimum, that the person has worked a lot with small businesses, preferably within your field, advised Melissa Labant, the director of tax advocacy for the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.

2. Make a few calls

Before committing, speak to two or three candidates and ask about their experience and their approach. Get a list of their base fees, but remember that fees may change depending on the complexity of your return and the training and education of the preparer.

Also confirm that the individual or the firm will be able to represent you before the IRS, if there are questions about your return or if you're audited.

3. Check credentials and history

Make sure any preparer you consider has a Preparer Tax Identification Number, or PTIN, which is required by the IRS to file as a professional.

Check for complaints filed with the Better Business Bureau and your city or state consumer protection agency. And check out disciplinary issues and license status with your state board of accountancy for CPAs, state bar associations for attorneys, or the IRS Office of Professional Responsibility for enrolled agents.

Most importantly, make sure you're comfortable with the preparer. It's important because, even if you hire someone to prepare your return, you're still ultimately responsible for what it says.

4. Be prepared for questions

"It's important that the person who's preparing your return knows something about you, so that you get the proper deductions," said Ellen Minkow, a certified public accountant with her own New York firm. "You need somebody who really dives in and asks you questions about what happened to you this year."

Minkow noted that once you find the right preparer, you will likely establish a relationship that lasts for years. Accountants and other professionals may also provide advice on other aspects of your financial life, including long-term planning, investments and home buying.

4. Look for warning signs

If your preparer does any of the following, it's a sign of a problem that should make you think twice about filing the return:

? Asks you to sign a blank return.

? Indicates that it is OK to include false or misleading information to boost your refund.

? Refuses to sign your return or include his or her PTIN.

As Minkow put it, "You do not want that person who's working in the back of the bowling alley and telling you to go file yourself."

Paul McCartney finally gets Walk of Fame star (Reuters)

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) ? Paul McCartney finally got his own star on Hollywood's Walk of Fame on Thursday, becoming the last of the four Beatles to get the honor.

"In Liverpool, when we were kids and listening to Buddy Holly and all the other rock and roll greats, I would have never thought the day would come when I'd be getting a star on the Walk of Fame. I thought it was an impossible thing to happen. But here we are today," McCartney, 69, said.

"I couldn't have done it without a certain three boys, so I want to say thanks to those guys, John, George and Ringo," he said.

McCartney's star was placed outside the Capitol Records building, alongside those of band members John Lennon, George Harrison and Ringo Starr.

The Beatles were given a star as a group in 1998, more than 25 years after they split up. Lennon and Harrison were given their individual stars several years after their deaths in 1980 and 2001 respectively, while Starr got his in 2010.

Hundreds of fans of the Fab Four gathered, clutching memorabilia, to see McCartney honored for his 50-year legacy in the music industry.

Starr was prevented from attending Thursday's ceremony because of illness, but rocker Neil Young was on hand to pay tribute to McCartney as a singer and songwriter "at the top of his game."

The Beatles, who hailed from Liverpool, England, became one of the best-selling bands in the world in the 1960s, triggering a wave of Beatlemania for hits like "Love Me Do", "Yellow Submarine" and "Let it Be".

"Thanks to all of you, to all the fans around the world, I'd like to send you hugs and kisses on the bottom," the singer said cheekily, referring to his latest album, "Kisses on the Bottom."

McCartney will receive the Recording Academy's MusiCares person of the year award on Friday, and perform at Sunday's Grammy Awards.

Surprise! Location App Highlight Actually Creates Serendipity

highlightdavison2212The big promise of location-based mobile apps is that they can help you find something great in real life without you meaning to look for it. But that hasn't usually been my experience. Instead, whether because of the friction of having to check in, the lack of adoption by friends outside of tech, or whatever else, I simply forget to use them. That has changed with Highlight, a new passive location app for iOS that shows you when Facebook users with friends and interests in common are nearby.?Since it launched last week, I've gotten in touch with an old friend/source who's now at a big new company, discovered a couple previous acquaintances who happen to live or work near me, and got the heads up about a fellow blogger creeping behind me at work.?My experience is more or less on track with what founder Paul Davison is hearing from other users so far.

Grosse Pointe Patch:

Hundreds of mourners gathered at Grosse Pointe Memorial Church this morning for a memorial service for Jane E. Bashara, some walking several blocks because of the shortage of parking at the church.

City of Grosse Pointe and Grosse Pointe Farms police worked traffic control along Jefferson, blocking the entrance to the church driveway and ensuring motorists were not further congesting the area roadways.

Cars lined the outermost lane of Jefferson for more than a mile.

As her friends, relatives and neighbors mourn her unexpected death, which was ruled a homicide by strangulation, details keep surfacing a tiny bit at a time.

Sudan, Egypt abductions highlight risks to Chinese (AP)

BEIJING ? The plight of two groups of Chinese workers in Africa ? one freed Wednesday a day after being snatched in Egypt and the other in captivity for a fifth day in Sudan ? highlights the dangers China faces as its worldwide presence grows.

China has developed strong economic ties in volatile nations in Africa and elsewhere, in large part to meet its growing needs for energy and other raw materials. At the same time it is facing growing pressure at home to protect citizens who fall into harm's way abroad.

Twenty-five Chinese who work at an Egyptian state-owned cement factory were grabbed Tuesday on their way to work in the northern Sinai city of el-Arish but were freed in good condition.

Their captors were Egyptians who had blocked the road outside el-Arish for days to demand the release of relatives detained for attacks in the Sinai years ago and to demand an end to natural gas sales to Israel.

An Egyptian security official told The Associated Press that the Chinese laborers were returned to their hotel in el-Arish early Wednesday morning.

According to the official, who spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to talk to the media, the kidnappers received a promise that their relatives would be retried.

In contrast to the quick resolution of the Egypt hostage-taking, the ordeal of 29 Chinese workers from dam and engineering firm Sinohydro Group has dragged on since their kidnapping Saturday by rebels in the Sudan's South Kordofan region.

Their plight has drawn heavy media attention in China, and Beijing has sent a crisis team to Sudan, where Chinese companies have investments in oil and construction projects.

"As far as we know, the Chinese workers are safe. They are safe. They are not hurt," the head of the security team, Qiu Xuejun, told Chinese state television in Khartoum.

China also is pressuring Sudan, a diplomatic partner. A senior Chinese Foreign Ministry official summoned the Sudanese Embassy's top diplomat on Tuesday to stress Beijing's concern.

"The Chinese government attaches great importance to protecting overseas Chinese nationals," Vice Foreign Minister Xie Hangsheng was quoted as saying in a statement posted on the ministry's website.

China hopes Sudan will "keep in mind the overall situation of bilateral friendship" and ensure their swift release, Xie told Sudanese Charge d'Affaires Omer Eisa Ahmed, according to the statement.

The kidnappings and Beijing's energetic response highlight what tempting targets Chinese have become as they grow richer and travel the world for work and for pleasure. Ensuring the safety of Chinese lives and assets has become a litmus test for the authoritarian government, which wants to prove to the public that China is powerful and respected around the world.

The public has increasingly expected an effective and at times muscular defense of Chinese rights, and social media have given vent to these expectations. In recent months, scuffles between Chinese fishermen and South Korean coastal patrols and the killing of Chinese boat crews along the Mekong River in Southeast Asia have brought calls for retaliation.

"Saved in Sudan, detained in Egypt, beaten in South Korea and murdered on the Mekong. How can this be?" race car driver Wei Daofu said Wednesday on a posting on Sina Corporation's Twitter-like Weibo service.

An estimated 60 million Chinese went abroad in 2010 and a projected 75 million likely did so in 2011, putting a strain on China's diplomatic corps to track them and provide protection, the state-run Guangzhou Daily reported this week on its website. The report quoted a scholar with a Foreign Ministry think tank who listed five potential trouble spots where China has significant investments: Sudan, Iran, Central Asia, Pakistan and Myanmar.

Many commentators say Chinese workers are vulnerable because Chinese companies searching for energy and other natural resources are often forced to operate in volatile parts of the world because safer areas are monopolized by Western firms.

"The issue of Chinese workers being abducted overseas is not a new one, especially in countries in Africa and Asia. The question is that China is widely engaged in a whole range of businesses overseas," said Zhu Feng, an international affairs expert at Peking University. "More often than not, Chinese workers in politically unstable countries would become subject for exploitation by local militant groups and illegal armed forces, who want to make deals with or stage protests against the local governments."

When Libya began splintering in the civil war that eventually overthrew Moammar Gadhafi last year, 30,000 Chinese were working in the country. The Chinese military orchestrated a large-scale evacuation, sending ships and planes.

The official Xinhua News Agency said the 29 people kidnapped in Sudan were among 47 Chinese workers caught in an attack in South Kordofan. The other 18 workers fled, and one of them remains missing, the agency said. The attack took place near Abbasiya town, 390 miles (630 kilometers) south of Khartoum.

Sudanese officials have blamed the attack on the Sudan People's Liberation Movement-North, a branch of a guerrilla movement that has fought various regimes in Khartoum for decades. Its members come from a minority ethnic group now in control of much of South Sudan, which became the world's newest country six months ago in a breakaway from Sudan.

Sudan has accused South Sudan of arming pro-South Sudan groups in South Kordofan. The government of South Sudan says the accusations are a smoke screen intended to justify a future invasion of the South.

Beijing has tried to maneuver through the dispute, building ties with South Sudan, where many of the oil fields are located, while maintaining its long-standing relations with Sudan, through which pipelines run for export.

First lady pushes Jay Leno to eat healthy hoods

(AP) ? Jay ate the veggies.

First lady Michelle Obama cajoled Jay Leno into nibbling on apples, sweet potato fries and a pizza made with eggplant, green peppers and zucchini on the "Tonight Show," breaking his long-held aversion for all-things-healthy in his diet.

Leno once told a magazine he hadn't eaten a vegetable since 1969, and he insisted he tasted his last apple in 1984. That didn't dissuade the first lady, who's promoting her "Let's Move!" campaign to get kids excited about fitness and healthy eating habits.

Earlier, Obama poked at him in a Twitter post, hinting she'd "get Jay to eat some veggies" on the NBC show.

He did.

"That does smell very good. I assume this is sausage-pepperoni," the comedian quipped as he eyed the pizza made with a whole-wheat crust.

She convinced Leno to dip an apple in honey made from beehives in the White House garden: "It will help it go down easier," she assured him.

"White House honey? That sounds bad," Leno told her. "You know, with a different president that could mean a whole different thing, 'a little White House honey.'"

The first lady is on a two-day swing through California where she'll promote her initiative while attending two events to help Democrats raise money for the upcoming elections.

She told Leno she's not doing anything special to prepare for what's expected to be a tough re-election campaign for her husband, President Barack Obama.

"You know, there's really no way to mentally prepare for it. You take each day as it comes," she said.

Republican Mitt Romney has been ridiculing the White House and might face the president in November, but the first lady graded the former Massachusetts governor's singing voice with something like a sly endorsement. Romney surprised supporters in Florida with an on-pitch version of "America the Beautiful" on Monday, and Leno asked the first lady for her opinion.

"It's beautiful," she said after a pregnant pause, with a laugh and raised eyebrows. "And it is America's song, and it's a song that's meant to be sung by every American," the first lady said in a taped appearance for the NBC show.

Leno told her, "That is right, regardless of political affiliation."

But she swooned over her husband's singing ? Obama took a brief turn as a soul singer earlier this month at a New York fundraiser, crooning a bar from an Al Green classic. She says he does a little Marvin Gaye, too.

"He does have a beautiful voice, and he sings to me all the time," she told Leno.
